{"id":1905,"date":"2018-09-21T02:08:14","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T02:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dobbsferryhistory.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=1905"},"modified":"2018-10-12T02:26:48","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T02:26:48","slug":"sudman-donovan-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/dobbsferryhistory.org\/wordpress\/sudman-donovan-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing The Mary Sudman Donovan History Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dobbs Ferry Historical Society is pleased to announce the availability of one college scholarship in the amount of $500 to a graduating high school senior who plans to enroll in an accredited college or university and who lives<span lang=\"it-IT\"> in Dobbs Ferry or the Dobbs Ferry School District.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This scholarship is made available in honor of the Society\u2019s President Emerita Dr. <span lang=\"nl-NL\">Mary Sudman Donovan<\/span>, an accomplished professor and historian who presided over the Society for many years.<\/p>\n<p>It must be certified that the applicant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>is not an immediate relative of a Society Trustee<\/li>\n<li>demonstrates a strong interest in American history or more specifically Dobbs Ferry history<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And the applicant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>will participate in a qualifying interview with the Scholarship Committee of the Dobbs Ferry Historical Society, if asked and<\/li>\n<li>submits a complete application including official transcripts, recommendation letters and a brief essay related to the field of history (with specific details on application)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Scholarship Committee, consisting of Trustees of the Dobbs Ferry Historical Society, will select and recommend one applicant for this scholarship to the entire Board of Trustees of the Dobbs Ferry Historical Society. Scholarship must be used within one year of date of award or it is forfeited. The winning essay will be printed in the Historical Society&#8217;s publication, <em>The Ferryman<\/em> and will also appear on the Historical Society\u2019s web site,
