Mead House
Mead House
For the last three years, volunteers have been at work improving the Mead House and Garden. High school interns helped establish a herb garden in the yard behind the kitchen. When a disaster loomed with the staircase pulling away from the wall, master carpenter Stewart Norman refitted the footings and repaired the damage. The Garden Club of Dobbs Ferry with the help of master gardener Mary Gerber redesigned and replanted the front flower beds. Boy Scout Ben Hord painted the East fence. Society members Peggie Blizard and Ellen Davis spearheaded the revitalization of the first and second floor hallway and the front parlor with wallpaper specially designed for us by Joanna Rock. And finally, the kitchen was redone with a new floor, more modern appliances and cupboards and cabinets crafted by Stewart Norman. All these improvements were made possible through generous gifts to the Mead House Preservation Fund.
